Two Traffic Policemen Killed by a Drunk Driver in Izhevsk

Posted on June 29, 2010 by team

In June, 26 a driver of “Mazda Hatchback” refused to stop on demand of a traffic policeman, his refusal was followed by a chase: at the highest speed “Mazda” was trying to throw the police off, but was finally caught up. We can only guess what happened next but the police’ “Daewoo Nexia” was found crumpled and both policemen were dead, the driver of “Mazda” was hiding his face with hands, he was blind drunk …

I hope he’s rich or he will spend a long time in jail. Just wonder how much this bribe would be?

Save the people money; “shot while trying to escape custody” is always acceptable. He chose to get drunk & drive.

I am suprised if he made it to the police station without having an “accident”.

My sincerest condolences to the families. Don’t buy Korean cars they just crumple.

Not true. I hit a 1998 Chevy venture head on with a 1986 Hyundai Pony (combined speed of 150 KM/h). The minivan was thrown on its side and while both cars were write offs, I managed to salvage the engine and put it into another Pony. Not even that, there was no coolant leak (radiator was wrapped around the engine though!)

Cop said that the car has no crumple zones (the steering didn’t even collapse) and I said, “sure, its the other car”

        ;)

Up to now I enjoyed English Russia postings. This one however is far out of the ordinary. I find it completely unethical and disrespectful to the families of the victims. I still have some hope that common sense and conscience will prevail and these pictures will be taken off the site.

that doesn’t happen. Russian media is prefectly ok to show death on television not like in other countries.

Mazda passenger compartment = mostly intact.
Daewoo passenger compartment = mostly in trunk.
The cops should have safer cars. My condolences to the officers families.

      A. Bunka here. As distasteful as Papa Carlo finds these photos they serve a valuble service: don’t drink and drive. If you fight the law, the law usually wins.

Take a cab or walk home if you can.

Foolish from the get go, this person make his life a whole lot worst, then either a. take a taxi home, b. have somebody not drink at all and do the driving, C. Some when you are asked to by a policeman. At worst he would have been fined lose drivers license or maybe a couple of days in the drunk tank. Now he lost his car, he will be going to jail for a long time, or worst. Seems like common sense when out the door. As for doing some of the thing suggested. Well if you just do that, then the laws and the courts have no standing and that is even worst. Apply the law and do it up front and by the book. Its the only way. Sad thing to loose a father in any manner let along this way.
