A calm area on the Baikal Lake, not far from a port of the same name, keeps a secret of the ships laid up. This place is called “the graveyard” among residents. The majority of ships rusting here are towboats and barges having served for delivering construction materials, soil, timber and fuel for the purposes of the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline.

    Could someone please translate the entries in the book in the last picture?

      Well, I don’t know exact words in English, but something like this:
      “Wednesday, 17th of october 1981. Vessel is on route from Kultuk to Kurma (? not very clear) with 516 tons of gasoline onboard”.
      There are also several notes about route below, but only fragemnts.

    Too bad that on the worl’s deepest lake are abandoned ships.. which worth alot since the steel is so expensive these days..

    Not really, it costs to much too cut it up and transport it to a foundry. A lot of work for old deteriorated metal.
