Storks are often guests on power lines on ex-Soviet territories. Sometimes power lines play bad jokes on their nests so firefighters come on rescue.

      Power was turned off, otherwise the fireman would not be standing there as he does. You are the prime nominee for the award you speak of. ;)

    Bald Eagles do that near my home, although their nests, which can weigh up to 1 ton, never catch fire like that. Although, I do occasionally come accross fried ravens, their burnt skeletons still klinging to a wire.

    Here In Finland a couple of cases like this have taken place with osprey nests. Too bad, but not unexpected.
