I always thought that Ukraine was a progressive country, quite unlike the backwardness of Russia.

      Ukraine progressive?

How much has the Ukraine contributed to the world?

What you see in the pictures is Polish or Russian contributions to the Ukraine.

  5. Mr.Nil says:

    Moscva(moscow) was a province too.

  6. Mr.Nil says:

Kiev has always been a Russian city. So it’s better to say “Ukrainians occupied Kiev”

    • SashaBelov says:

Hmmmm….. Kyiv a Russian city? Just like a Russian to rewrite history…. just like it was the Soviets that invented the telephone, car, refridgerator, airplane….. you are funny Mr. Nil! Hate to burst your bubble, but Kyiv has always been a Ukrainian city, long before Russia ever “existed.” As a matter of fact, Ukraine existed long before Russia ever did!

Russia and Russians have an inferiority complex, that is why they are always trying to show how great they are, i.e., with there great army that is much better than the US army…. of course it isn’t. And, at least the average Americans aren’t starving to death like the average Russians. The only reason why the West pays any attention to Russia is because they want Russian oil and gas. Once technology is finally discovered to replace oil and gas, Russia will return to being the “nothing” that it is, and Ukraine and Georgia will be part of Nato….. and there will be no more Russian Black Sea Fleet occupying Ukrainian soil! Shche ne vmerla Ukraina!

“Ukraine existed long before Russia ever did!” lol? Maybe you meant it the other way around? The term “Ukraine” appeared in 19th century and stands for “borderland”, that’s how Poles were calling them, not surprising that the most rapid Ukrainians come from western Ukraine – i.e. ex Polish lands. Ukrainian language is very artificial and limited (they took Surzhik (a dialect of the Russian) and threw Polish words in there so it would sound different from Russian), you cannot invent anything using it, since there is just not enough words. High majority people in Ukraine speak Russian at home.

“and there will be no more Russian Black Sea Fleet occupying Ukrainian soil!” — lol! Russian army was there for 300 years. How long was Ukrainian army in there? 23 years. 23 vs 300. Who is occupying who?

“Shche ne vmerla Ukraina!” — “Ukraine didn’t die yet”. Very funny anthem. Your main song is an utter joke.

“Russia and Russians have an inferiority complex” — I don’t want to hear that from “Ukrainian” with a Russian name. Maybe you meant yourself and your inferiority complex? “Ukrainians” really like to beat themselves in the chest saying how non-Russian they are, in a fact being ethnically and culturally Russians.

Just been in Ukraine a month, came back yesterday. Much progress, lots of werstern and japanese cars, the Zas car factory now produces Chevrolets (actuaklly a korean car Chevrolet bought because the Detroit models don’t sell anymore). Still problems with roads, much much better that a few years ago, but what to expect? It is only 15 years since they got free of a regime not designed for private transport, but public transport. Ukraine always was richer than Russia, you don’t see any wood shacks called ‘houses’ in the countryside in Ukraine, but they are very common in Russia. Ukraine has the beast soil in the world, population is well educated, and they are coming.

Lenin said it “The Ukrainians can get whatever they want – except Ukraine.”

As to the poster claiming that Russia didn’t invent anything: Who won the space race?

    • too much vodka says:

The Germans who were taken prisoner by the Russians won the space race over the Germans who were taken prisoner by the Americans.

“Ukraine was richer” is because Russians were investing in there like there was no tomorrow. Ukrainian economy stands on south-east which is Russian populated and was gifted to Ukraine by Lenin. Majority of Ukrainian population are Russians. Majority speaks Russian at home (unlike Georgians or Latvians or Estonians etc, only Russians speak Russian there). It just shows that Russians built Ukraine from scratch (except for the Western Ukraine which was Polish for 700 years, and where Ukrainian ideology came from). Ukraine is a steppe that’s why they don’t have woods and wooden houses (hey, USA is full of cheap wooden houses). Cherkess were living in those parts and they brought some Turk culture in there and how to build mazakas.

    • Epsilon says:

Also you see here Russian churches. Ukrainian ideology comes from Western Ukraine which is Catholic.

Back in those days when developing photos was expensive people put more attention to what they were taking pictures of. Now every wortless cellphone made picture of teenage cleavage is considered worth uploading :-(
