Even better would be the chance to be placed in a city garden. There it could grow to be tall and wide, with healthy leaves to shade the children that play under it during the summer, or old ladies who stop for a rest on a bench underneath it, or birds who need a branch to sit on while they sing.

We all know Nashi (“Ours”) is a front group created by Putin and/or his supporters to intimidate the opposition. The great irony is that they espouse anti-fascism, and yet are stifling other democratic political parties (which is the very nature of fascism). Democracy means allowing others to speak and exist, even if you are completely opposed to their ideals.
There may be a greater irony in the future: having created OURS, will their leaders always be able to control them? If more youths join and are fanatical in their beliefs, will they go their own way and ignore their leaders?
You support Putin now because the economy is doing well, but when the markets fall and things go back to the inflation of the Yeltsin days, will you still support Putin or his cronies?
