Leonid Baranov Paintings of Russian Countryside

Posted on November 16, 2006 by team

Leonid Baranov is an artist from Ekaterinburg city who draws the modern life in Russian village.

Heroes of his works look like real people from Russian countryside.

He never became famous or rich, and he prefers to drink a lot of vodka as a real Russian and doesn’t care much about the missing fame.

Still in his pictures I find something attractive.

I think the second picture down would have been better without the jeep. It looks out of place.

The third picture reminds me of the Swedish(?) book The Tomten, about a mysterious farm sprite. Anyone else see the connection?

    It is drawn beautifully.
But it is too naive. The author is far from people and Russian Village.
    It is sad.

    Beautifull…
But it is far from reality.
